Back Catalogue Re-released on Bandcamp

The Hall Brothers back catalogue is being re-released on Bandcamp. Affordable prices for download (50p per track, £5 for an album). You can listen to whole albums or any track online, but you can purchase really high quality sound-files for listening in the car or on your MP3 player, etc. It's great that people are having a good listen, but a few purchases helps the whole thing keep going ;-) Look out for more releases over the coming weeks, hopefully also including some previously unreleased material. Harefield Hall, Pateley Bridge

This Sunday, 8th September, we are playing at Harefield Hall in Pateley Bridge. We'll be on between 2 and 3, admission is via a raffle ticket (£1 I think!) and it's all raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support (It's part of the Great Milk Stout Ride). There's a great bill of music from midday so really recommend getting down there early and staying all afternoon! Follow this link to find out more!

This is the news.

1) OTLEY IN DECEMBER

We have two big projects coming up in Otley this December.

First of all, on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December, Otley Community Players will be presenting ARTHUR RANSOME'S WINTER HOLIDAY at the Courthouse Arts Centre. The popular children's novel has been adapted by Duncan and Nick; Nick is directing the production (and playing a couple of small parts) and the show will feature music and songs. Those who know Otley musicians might well recognise a few other familiar faces in the cast...

Tickets are priced at £7 (£5 concessions) and can be purchased here.

A couple of weeks later and we're back at the Courthouse again (by popular demand!) for a repeat of last year's 20th Anniversary Concert. This one's the 21st!

It's Saturday 22nd December. Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) and go up a little if you wait to get them on the door (this is not recommended as it sold out in advance last year and tickets are already selling well). Get them here!

As with last year, the evening will start with a set from Plumhall, then Dave Vermond and finally The Hall Brothers & John Carey and a host of special guests. Ask anybody who was there last year - it was a great night and this one promises to be even better. What could be better for a Christmas night out?

2) CDs

The last physical copies of Songs From the Shore and Time & Tragedy have now been sent out (thanks for buying at Otley - should be with you by midweek!!) Although we are exploring the possibility of "print-on-demand" CDRs of these albums (alongside the no-longer-available Dark Waters, No Place on Earth and a collection of previously unreleased material) as things currently stand, the only way to get these recordings is to download them. They are available from iTunes and many other standard download sites (see links on the website) - including, now, Amazon.co.uk (here and here).

Expect something new in 2013...

Otley Folk Festival

Hi everyone. If you wish to see The Hall Brothers at Otley Folk Festival 2012, you need to come and see us at Korks on Thursday (tomorrow) night, the Horse and Farrier on Saturday afternoon or the usual Whittakers bash on Sunday afternoon. Watch this space for any clarifications, changes, additions, etc!!

Dent Show cancelled

Just a quick note to say that, owing to a water-logged site and poor weather forecast, this event has been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience - we're back up the Dales very soon.

Hi folks,
In what seemed at the start to be quite a quiet year for gigs by our standards, we've suddenly had a late spurt (as does seem to happen quite often!) and now the diary is filling up nicely! We've added Otley Folk Club and Folk Festival as well as the Raise Your Banners festival. We're in talks with three lovely venues to host some special Hall Bros anniversary concerts later in the year. More details as soon as we have them :-)

Robin Hood's Bay concert 15th May
